Also on our California trip we climbed half dome as a warm up hike for Whitney. Round trip was 18 miles. We started at about 5am. Oh, and if you like hiking and your interested in what is called 14ers then a good web site is 14ers.com.
we hiked about an hour by the first pic. (in pic one) Miles hiked 3, miles till summit 6, and miles back to car 15.

(pic two) We hiked 5 miles. It's about 7am and we can see the summit but don't see how we are going to get there. 4 miles till summit, 13 miles back to the car.

(pic 3)We are about to climb a false summit and then climb the last mile. The last mile is a cliff face you must climb up to the summit (and we will use cables to help us climb). One mile to summit. 10 to the car.

(pic 4) Just started the face. It's not to steep yet but it gets worse. 2,000 feet to summit, 9 miles back to car.

(pic 5) I don't know if you can see me but I'm standing on the edge of the cliff with a 4,000 ft drop under me.

If you feel up to the challenge, I highly suggest this climb. It was a lot of fun and very beautiful to see Gods creation. It brings your mind off of worldly things and allows you to see just how big our God is.
